№ — Editorial Independence
How listings
work.
Best AI Tools is an editorial directory. Entries are added by hand: nothing is imported automatically from press releases, data feeds or vendor submissions. Facts about a tool (what it does, what it costs, where it runs) come from the vendor's own site, pricing page and documentation, which each listing links to.
What we look at
These criteria decide whether a tool is listed and whether it is featured. They are an editor's judgement, not a calculated score. Directory entries are checked against public sources; we don't run hands-on benchmarks for them. When an article includes our own testing, the article says so and shows what was tested.
Does what it says
The product exists, is available to sign up for, and its own site and docs back up what it claims to do.
Pricing transparency
A public pricing page, a clear free tier or trial where one is advertised, and no key feature hidden behind “contact sales”.
Trust signals
A privacy policy, a clear statement on how your data is used (including for model training), and an identifiable company behind it.
Actively maintained
Recent product updates, a changelog or release notes, and no signs that it has been abandoned.
Ease of getting started
Onboarding, documentation and how much expertise you need before it is useful.
Real-world fit
Whether it solves a problem better than the free or established alternatives already listed.
Editorial independence
- —Tool makers cannot pay to be listed, featured or ranked. Submitting a tool is free.
- —Featured and “trending” picks are editorial choices made with the criteria above.
- —We don’t currently use affiliate links, sponsored content or ads. If that changes, it will be labelled where it appears and explained on our Disclosure page.
The full funding statement is on our Disclosure page.
How we keep listings current
Content sweeps
We re-check listings in periodic sweeps, starting with the most-used tools, and whenever we learn that a product, plan or price has changed. Each listing shows two dates taken from our edit history: when it was added, and when its facts were last updated. Short listings that don't yet say much beyond a summary are kept out of search engines until they're expanded.
Reader-flagged corrections
If you spot outdated or wrong information, email info@bestaitools4u.com. We check the claim against the source and fix it if it's wrong. Fixes are recorded in our corrections log.
Discontinued tools
When a tool shuts down or is folded into another product, we say so on its listing or remove it.
Submit a tool
Anyone can suggest a tool at /submit, for free. Submissions are judged against the criteria above, so sending one doesn't guarantee a listing. We'll email you if we add it.
